One sachet before, sipped through the long stuff. The hour where everything usually gets heavy passes without the negotiation.

still going at
hour three.
No gels, no syrup, no citric acid. One sachet in 500ml of water, and fuelling stops being the thing you brace for.
Fuel the session properly and you finish it able to train again. That's the difference between a big week and a big weekend.
read the label.
10g pea starch per sachet, confirmed by Sam 28 Jul. Sugars 0g (pea starch is a complex carbohydrate); energy is calculated at 17 kJ/g, not read from the printed label — verify against the label before any nutrition-table use.
One sachet in 500ml of water, about 15 minutes before you start. On efforts over an hour, sip it through rather than drinking it all up front. Drop a sachet of Pure Electrolytes into the same bottle on the long, hot days.
so why not just take a gel?
Gels work — right up until the second hour, when the sugar hit turns into a crash and your stomach starts negotiating. This is the same job done with one carbohydrate that behaves itself.
Pure Carb Fuel is a carbohydrate, not a recovery product. Fuel during the session, aminos for the repair afterwards, electrolytes for what you sweat out.

the honest answers.
When do I actually need carbs?
Sessions past about an hour, or anything hard in the heat. Under that, the food you already ate does the job. This is for the long ride, the back nine, the second hour of a race — the point where fuel, not fitness, decides how you finish.
Will it spike my blood sugar?
Pea starch is easy on the stomach and produces a flatter, more sustained energy curve than a sugar gel or a maltodextrin drink — no spike, no crash. That's the whole reason we chose it. If you manage a blood-sugar condition, speak to your healthcare professional before adding any carbohydrate supplement.
What's actually in it?
One ingredient: pea starch from yellow peas. No corn, no wheat, no gluten, no added sugar, no flavour system, no colours. It's a plain powder that mixes into water and gets out of the way.
Can I take it with Bare Aminos?
Yes — they do different jobs. Carb Fuel is the energy for the session you're in. Bare Aminos is the amino load your body rebuilds with afterwards: nine essential aminos, 5,000mg in total, 2,000mg of that leucine. Plenty of people take carbs before and during, aminos after.
Can I mix it with Pure Electrolytes?
Yes, and for anything over 90 minutes it's the stack we'd recommend. One sachet of Pure Electrolytes and one sachet of Carb Fuel into the same bottle — salt and fuel in one shaker, no extra bottle to carry.
When does it ship, and what does delivery cost?
Orders ship from Durban in 2–4 working days, anywhere in South Africa. Delivery is free over R1250 and tracked on everything else. All prices are in ZAR.
